Overview

The HSDC Coaching Academy provides an exciting opportunity to gain invaluable experience in an educational environment, whilst also gaining the specific qualifications for direct entry into the world of work.On this course you will undertake work-based placements and events, alongside experienced coaches and/or teachers, working with primary school children either in schools or local facilities.You will gain qualifications in a variety of topics at Level 2 & 3 to give you the skills and knowledge to coach sport and PE. This includes a Level 2 in Multiskills required by Hampshire County Council to lead foundation sports skills sessions in schools.

Five GCSEs at grade 3 or above including Mathematics and English. Must be aged 16+ at the beginning of the course. If you are currently a student at HSDC and wish to progress on to this course, you must have completed a Level 2 or 3 course achieving a merit and demonstrated reliability with an attendance above 85%.

This course will provide you with all of the relevant qualifications that you need to be able to coach in schools in accordance with requirements of Local Authority.This includes the following qualifications: NCFE L3 Introductory Certificate in Physical Activity FAA L3 Award in Paediatric First Aid 1st4Sport L2 Certificate in Multiskills NCFE L2 Award in Volunteerinh NCFE L2 Award in Supporting Work in Schools and Colleges NCFE L1 Award in Safeguarding Mathematics and English where relevant

A variety of teaching methods and technology will be used in the classroom, sports hall and school coaching sessions. Some time will be dedicated to Work Experience. You will get to work with experienced professionals in a real environment with primary school children delivering coaching or competition based.

You will be assessed through a range of practical observations, VLE based (Google Classroom) portfolio and written work.

Kit must be purchased in-line with CM Sports, which is £115.

On completion of this course, you could progress onto full time or part time coaching employment, apprenticeships or take on a 2 year Level 3 course at college.
