Through your studies, youll acquire a range of key transferable skills in areas such as research, evaluation, team working, presentation and problem solving. Youll also have the chance to participate in field trips, both nationally and internationally, in order to experience destinations and consider career specialisms.

Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English Language and preferably Mathematics.

On this course you will study 13 units over the two years.

These 13 units will give you the background to customer service, geography and business. Some units will specifically look at job roles in the travel and tourism industry.

In addition, you will complete two weeks of work experience to help develop your confidence and employability skills.

The people that will be teaching you on this qualification are passionate about the industry and your success. They have all worked in the industry and have a range of stories to excite you about your future. We ensure that you are ready for the industry by pushing you out of your comfort zone throughout the year. Lessons will include both teacher and learner-led activities.

HSDC offer a variety of learning and teaching approaches including lectures, tutorials, studios, workshops, presentations and group discussions. You will have access to the Learning Hub (library) and other online and digital resources through the HSDC student portal.

A number of assessment methods will be used throughout the course, including written tests, assignments and reports. Occasionally you will be assessed via roleplay, presentations and other creative tasks.

This course requires you to purchase a uniform and kit and we include trips to enhance your learning and experience of industry. All of these costs will be explained at interview and students in receipt of financial assistance will be supported with these costs.

Students often get jobs in the travel and tourism industry, such as travel agency roles, cabin crew, holiday representatives, front of house in the hospitality sector or in a related Apprenticeship position. Our course carries enough UCAS points to count towards university, so you could study a degree or a Higher National Diploma.
