Getting here by Bus or Train

Is HSDC hard to get to? Not at all!
It’s cheap and easy to get to both of our campuses.

It costs less than £1.85 a day to get to College with a subsidised bus pass. We’ve also worked with train providers to get you reduced rate train travel.

Listed below is information on some of the easiest ways to get to College, but if you have any questions please contact travelandsupport@hsdc.ac.uk 

How to get to the Havant Campus
Our A Level Centre of Excellence (Havant Campus) is approximately 15 minutes away from Chichester by train.

Students travelling by train from Chichester are able to purchase a Sussex Student Card which gives you approximately 1/3 off the price of travel.

There is also a direct bus (Stagecoach Service 727) which takes approximately 40 minutes from Chichester.

How to get to the South Downs Campus
There is a direct bus service from Chichester to our South Downs Campus. This is the Stagecoach 727 service which takes 40-50 minutes.

How to get to the Havant Campus
It takes approximately six minutes by train to get from Cosham to the HSDC Havant Campus.

The price of travel for the first term (Autumn) is less than £1.52 a day for students not receiving financial assistance, and less than 73p a day for those receiving financial assistance.

If the bus is your preferred method of transport there are frequent buses (Stagecoach Service 23) to Havant Bus Station that take approximately 14 minutes.

How to get to the South Downs Campus
The First Group Service 7C has two direct journeys which take around 10 minutes.

A frequent alternative route is the First Group Service 7 which runs every 12 minutes to Crookhorn Precinct (a short walk from the College).

How to get to the Havant Campus
It takes approximately six minutes by train to get from Cosham to the HSDC Havant Campus.

How to get to the Havant Campus
The Stagecoach Service 23 will take approximately 10 minutes from Drayton to the Havant Bus Station. This bus runs every 20 minutes.

How to get to the South Downs Campus
The first bus number 7 takes approximately eight minutes from Cosham, to the Crookhorn Precinct (a short walk from the South Downs Campus).

Alternatively, the Stagecoach number 23 runs from Farlington to the Havant Bus Station every 10 minutes. You can then take the number 37 directly to the South Downs Campus. In total this journey takes 20 minutes.

How to get to the Havant Campus
Emsworth train station is approximately a five minute journey away from Havant, and students can get a third off rail travel with a Sussex Student Card.
Direct bus routes (Stagecoach Service 700) run to Havant Bus Station. This bus journey takes approximately 13 minutes.

How to get to the South Downs Campus
The Stagecoach Service 727 is one direct 25 minute journey.

Other frequent routes include the Stagecoach 700 to Havant, then change at Havant or the Stagecoach 37/39 to the South Downs Campus.

How to get to the Havant Campus

It takes approximately 15 minutes by train to get to our A Level Centre of Excellence (Havant Campus). It costs less than £1.90 a day for students not receiving financial assistance, and less than £1.05 a day for those receiving financial assistance.

If the bus is your preferred method of transport there is a direct route (First Group Service SD5) to Havant which takes approximately 40 minutes.

How to get to the South Downs Campus:
The First Group service SD4 and SD5 are direct routes which take 30 minutes from Fareham to the South Downs Campus.

There are a number of other frequent routes throughout the day. However, these routes require changing at Cosham. These busses run to the Crookhorn Precinct (a short walk from the College).

How to get to the Havant Campus
Our A Level Centre of Excellence is located in Havant, making it walking distance for students living in the Havant area.

Alternatively, there are bus routes from the Bedhampton, Leigh Park and Warblington areas which run to the Havant Campus or Havant bus station and cost under £1.50 per day with an annual bus pass.

How to get to the South Downs Campus
The Stagecoach Service 37 takes nine minutes from Havant Bus station to the South Downs Campus.

Alternatively the Stagecoach service 39 runs from Havant and Leigh Park every 12 minutes. This bus costs less than £1 a day with an annual bus pass.

How to get to the Havant Campus
The Stagecoach Services 30 and 31 run from Hayling Island to the Havant Bus Station every 15-30 minutes. The Havant Campus is located a short ten minute walk from the Havant bus station.

How to get to the South Downs Campus
In order to get to our South Downs Campus you will need to take two busses. The first is the Stagecoach number 30 or 31 which will take you to the Havant Bus Station. From here, catch the Stagecoach 37 or 39 directly to the South Downs Campus.

How to get to the Havant Campus
The Stagecoach Service 37 runs from Horndean Precinct directly to the Havant Campus once an hour. This bus journey takes just over 45 minutes.

How to get to the South Downs Campus
The stagecoach service 37 runs from Horndean directly to the South Downs Campus. This bus runs once an hour, and takes around 38 minutes.

The First Bus number 8 is a more regular service running every 15 minutes. However, students will need to change to the First Bus number 7 bus which will take them from the Waterlooville Precinct to the Crookhorn Precinct (a short walk from the South Downs Campus).

How to get to the Havant Campus
Our A Level Centre of Excellence (Havant Campus) is around a 15 minute train journey from Petersfield.

The price of train travel is less than £2.30 a day with a College train pass for students not receiving financial assistance, and less than 68p a day for those receiving financial assistance.

If you prefer to get the bus there are two direct routes (Stagecoach Service 737). This journey takes approximately 40 minutes.

There are further alternative routes (Stagecoach Service 37) throughout the day, these take around one hour and 15 minutes.

How to get to the South Downs Campus
The direct College bus (Stagecoach Service 737) runs twice in the morning and twice in the afternoon. This is a direct bus route from Petersfield to the South Downs Campus, which takes 25 minutes.

Alternatively, the Stagecoach Service 37 runs from Petersfield every hour, this journey takes around one hour.

How to get to the Havant Campus
Trains running from Porchester or Cosham to Havant Train Station take approximately 10 minutes, and cost less than £1.50 a day with a College train pass.

Alternatively, if you prefer to get the bus, the Stagecoach number 23 service runs every 20 minutes directly to the Havant Campus. This bus takes approximately 20 minutes.

How to get to the South Downs Campus
The First Bus number 3 bus runs from Paulsgrove to Cosham every 10 minutes. From Cosham you will need to catch First Bus number 7 bus to Crookhorn Precinct (a short walk from our South Downs Campus). In total this bus journey is just under 25 minutes.

How to get to the Havant Campus
The First Bus Service SD5 takes just under 30 minutes to get to our Havant Campus.

Alternatively, the train from Portchester to Havant takes 10 minutes and will cost you less than £1.90 a day with a College train pass. The Havant Train Station is only a short walk from our Havant Campus.

How to get to the South Downs Campus
The First Bus services SD4 and SD5 run directly from Porchester to the South Downs Campus. This journey takes just under half an hour.

Alternatively, the regular First Bus number 7 runs from Cosham to Crookhorn Precinct (a short walk from the South Downs Campus).

How to get to the Havant Campus
The train journey from Portsmouth stations to Havant takes approximately 10-15 minutes.

The price of travel for the first term (Autumn) is less than £1.45 a day for students not receiving financial assistance, and less than 65p a day for those receiving financial assistance.

If you prefer to get the bus, the Stagecoach Service 700 frequently departs from The Hard and the City Centre. This journey takes around 30 minutes. If you are travelling from Southsea the Stagecoach Service 23 runs frequently, with the journey taking about an hour.

How to get to the South Downs Campus
Departing from South Parade Pier the First Group Service SD7 stops at a number of locations in Portsmouth. This is a 40 minute direct route to our South Downs Campus.

There are many frequent routes (every 12 minutes) to Crookhorn Precinct (a short walk from the South Downs Campus). This is the First Group Service 7 which runs from Portsmouth City Centre, Hilsea, North End and Cosham.

How to get to the Havant Campus
Southbourne train station is approximately a six minute journey away from Havant. Students can get a third off rail travel with a Sussex Student Card.

Direct bus routes (Stagecoach Service 700) run to Havant Bus Station. This bus journey takes approximately 15 minutes.

How to get to the South Downs Campus
The Stagecoach Service 727 is one direct 30 minute journey.
Other frequent routes include the Stagecoach 700 to Havant, then change at Havant or the Stagecoach 37/39 to the South Downs Campus.

How to get to the Havant Campus
There is a direct bus route from Hambledon/Denmead to the Havant Campus. This is the First Group Service 654 which takes around 45 minutes. Please note for Hambledon and Denmead this is the only bus available.

If travelling from areas such as Cowplain, Crookhorn, Purbrook or Widley there are frequent services from Stagecoach (37 & 39).

How to get to the South Downs Campus
The South Downs Campus is walking distance from areas such as Crookhorn, Purbrook and Widley.

Students travelling from Hambledon or Denmead will need to take the First Group direct Service 654, this journey takes 35 minutes. Alternatively, students can use First Bus services D1 and D2 from Hambledon/Denmead and change at Waterlooville Precinct to First Bus number 7 to arrive at Crookhorn Precinct. These services run frequently throughout the day.

From other areas of Waterlooville such as Cowplain there are frequent bus services including the Stagecoach 37 & 39 services, and First Group Services 7 & 8.
