Part Time students who are in receipt of an income based benefit, may be able to claim their travel expenses back from their home to the course venue. Once a benefit has been seen and approved by the Student Finance and Travel Team, you can either claim bus, train or mileage costs. You will need to complete a Travel Expenses form every time that you are requesting a refund. Proof of the tickets must be attached to the form.
If you are claiming mileage, this will be processed half-termly at 0.25p per mile.
All travel claims will be checked against attendance.
Before you claim any costs, you will need to complete the Financial Assistance for Part Time Students Application Form.
Part time students may also order a bus pass online from the Stagecoach or First Group websites. This bus pass will be at a discounted price for students. You will need to pay for the pass at the time of ordering online. No further financial assistance will be given towards the cost of this bus pass.
