Catering & Hospitality student James Cardy has continued to impress with his cooking skills after securing a spot in the regionals of the Rotary Young Chef of the Year competition.

Twelve competitors came together for the district finals on 10 March at Havant & South Downs College from all over the south, including Jersey and Guernsey. All budding chefs faced the task of cooking three courses in two hours.

After a challenging two hours, James was crowned third and won his spot in the regional finals, taking place at Taunton College on Saturday, 17 March.

Course manage Paul Mansfield said: “James has once again impressed the judges at the next stage of the Rotary Young Chef of the Year competition.

“He worked really hard leading up to the competition and that has paid off, he is looking forward to showing off his skills further on Saturday at the regionals.

“James is an asset to Havant & South Downs College and shows what is possible when you put the hard work and determination into what you do.”

If successful in the next stage, James will be off to Edinburgh for the national finals.
