Havant & South Downs College has formed an exciting partnership with Native Instruments to deliver cutting-edge music production training to the Portsmouth community.
Native Instruments are a leading manufacturer of software and hardware for computer-based music production and DJing. This partnership makes HSDC the only education establishment on the South Coast to hold the Native Instruments Education Partner title.
HSDC held a free Native Meetup event on 28 April to provide a space for creatives to connect with other creatives to share knowledge, learn music production techniques and get hands-on with the latest gear. It also gave members of the public a chance to learn more about the training HSDC are offering on Native Instruments Maschine Mk3 – the next generation music production and performance instrument.
Speaking about the Native Meetups, Senior Music IT Technician Gary Wood said: “A wide range of music producers from around the local area came along from all ranges of abilities – from complete beginners to professional DJ’s, film and TV composers and electronic music producers.
“We started off with a 45 minute networking session. We had three rooms running a total of nine 50 minute sessions and workshops where they could learn about Music Production using Native Instruments software and get hands on with the latest Maschine Mk3 controllers.”
And this won’t be the only Native Meetup HSDC are offering – all meetups will be held throughout the year and are free and open to all abilities.
Gary added: “Everyone had an awesome day and said that this event really helped them get their music production questions answered by industry professionals as they normally have no one to turn to.”
People who attended the first Native Meetup said the day was ‘really inspiring and helpful’.
HSDC’s Maschine courses for producers and performers will speed up your workflow using the hardware and the software, helping to get the maximum value from your investment into the product.
Our courses are run by industry professionals who will help you get the most out of this cutting edge music platform so you can make full songs and perform them live.
Enrolled students will always have access to the biggest discounts around, including 30% off the majority of the Native Instruments hardware and 50% off Komplete 11, ensuring NI’s cutting edge technology is accessible to all.
Director of Curriculum, Paul Carter, said: “This is the start of an exciting partnership with Native Instruments. Portsmouth has become a music hub and this will help support music producers in the local area.
“Our meetup events are all about bringing like minded people together and creating a music community.”
