The chairman of Harwin paid a special visit to HSDC’s new Harwin Academy students on Friday, 14 September.

Damon de Laszlo visited the budding engineers and had a tour around HSDC’s Engineering facilities.

HSDC’s partnership with Harwin gives students the opportunity to get an internationally recognised engineering qualification, alongside gaining experience working at the Portsmouth based head office of a global company.

Harwin Director Paul McGuinness also attended, and together they spoke to the students about the ethos of Harwin and invited questions from the students.

Questions ranged from ‘where do you see the company in three years’ time’ to ‘who are your biggest competitors’. Paul and Damon answered openly and honestly with innovation at the forefront of Harwin’s future.

Damon then asked the students some questions about their learning and their future aspirations after their time at Havant & South Downs College.

Damon said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring HSDC students as they embark upon their engineering studies.

“The first class facilities offered at the College and the opportunities offered to students through Harwin’s partnership with HSDC will enable them to gain invaluable skills and experience as well as have the chance to come and work at Harwin on successful completion of their course.

“It was a pleasure to meet with the first intake and speak with the future generation of engineers.”
