Beauty students from Havant & South Downs College celebrated World Prematurity Day by offering treatments to new parents.

Seven students visited Queen Alexandra Hospital on 17 November, offering their services to new parents on the neonatal ward.

The budding beauty therapists spent the day performing foot and hand massages, which proved to be very popular.

The students said: “We come every year for World Prematurity Day and also Mother’s Day as this can be such a stressful time for the parents so they deserve it. Not only that, it helps with our experience as beauty students and give us a chance to practice our skills on real clients.”

The staff at Queen Alexandra expressed their gratitude for the time the students spend on the ward.

Julie Smith, Sister on the unit, said: “We hope that by offering these treatments we can help look after their health and wellbeing, so thank you to the student for coming to visit.”
