Another step forward for the regeneration of Havant was taken when Havant Borough Council and Havant & South Downs College hosted more than 25 local businesses at the first Havant Business Partnership event.
The aim of the event was to create positive networks for the College, council and major businesses in the area. It is intended that this will be the start of a growing business networking forum for Havant.
Chief Executive for Havant and East Hampshire councils, Gill Kneller, introduced the evening. Delegates then received a presentation from the College and Havant Borough Council officers on the future aspirations for the regeneration of the area and opportunities to enhance local skills.
Following this, delegates were invited to take part in discussion groups about the challenges businesses face in recruiting and retaining talent and how the regeneration plans will transform the borough for everyone’s benefit.
Councillor Tim Pike, Deputy Leader of Havant Borough Council and Cabinet Lead for Finance and Regeneration said: “The council is committed to the long-term regeneration of the borough and recognises the importance of business and education to achieve this.”
Aaron Butson Director of Business, Growth and Innovation at Havant & South Downs College said: “This is an event is aimed at the high growth business of the area of which there are many in the area. The vision is to grow those high growth businesses and increase their number by providing the training and upskilling of the workforce to support each business’s needs.”
Councillor Michael Wilson, Leader of the Council closed the event by reflecting on the many positive conversations that were heard throughout the evening to find ways to make sure the regeneration of Havant is a success.
