Havant & South Downs College Higher Education Embarks on International Partnership Valencia Spain

Havant & South Downs College (HSDC) is very pleased to be partnering with the University of Florida, Valencia with the aim of developing opportunities for staff and students to collaborate on live projects, both virtually and face to face, within its Higher Education courses.

HSDC offer the largest Higher Education (HE) provision within a FE setting locally and the partnership is with its business related courses. Four HSDC business lecturers visited the University in July to meet with the Director of International Relations, Inma Mora Ortí and start the process of a formal partnership.

“It’s a great opportunity for staff to work on international research projects and share good practice,” commented Dom Thompson, HSDC’s Higher Education Manager, “and not just that, the plan is that students will be taught by the Lecturers in Spain through Google Hangouts, collaborative projects will be created for them to work on and, fingers crossed, we will be sending some of our HND Business students to work at the University in the summer”.

In February 2020 the University will be hosting an International week where lecturers from across the world deliver small courses to students at the University in the fields of Engineering, Business, Travel and Tourism, and Education.

At the end of the week, there will be a masterclass where all the cohorts come together for a topic that transcends the subjects. HSDC will be running this masterclass demonstrating how HSDC has taken forward the use of Google for Education within its teaching and learning. “The adoption of Google for Education across our campuses has greatly developed our use of technology to support collaborative practice, paperless communication and increased opportunities for learning and assessment. We are very much looking forward to having these experiences with students and partner lecturers in February,” said Martin Hoskin, Google Certified Trainer & Innovator/Teaching and Learning Coach.
