HSDC Staff Give Back This Festive Season

December 17, 2019

Donations for Stop Domestic Abuse

HSDC colleagues came together this festive season to give back to causes close to their hearts.

Christmas Jumper Day – Friday 13th December 2019

Staff from all three campuses – Alton, South Downs and Havant, dusted off their festive knitwear in aid of Havant & East Havant Mind. An amazing £324.09 (and counting) has been raised so far for the mental health charity that has worked closely with HSDC for a number of years. HEH Mind work to promote good mental health within the Havant and East Hampshire area.

Wave 105’s Mission Christmas

Mission Christmas donations under a Christmas Tree at South Downs Campus Reception.

Colleagues across HSDC have donated to Wave 105’s Mission Christmas campaign for the last four years, helping bring a little joy to children that live in poverty across the local area. After reaching out to HSDC colleagues, asking that they purchase one extra present this Christmas, a fantastic 226 presents were donated in time for Christmas. Our Curriculum Support teams set up gift drop-off points in the reception areas of each campus, with staff placing their donations under Christmas trees. Amber Harrod, Curriculum Support Officer at our South Downs Campus said –

“Every year our staff and students overwhelm us with their kind donations. Without these donations, these children would be without anything on Christmas morning. We wish to thank all staff and students who have donated to this amazing cause, wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”

Stop Domestic Abuse & Food Bank PO9

Food bank donations

Our Adult Learning team were inundated with donations after appealing for items that could be donated to local domestic abuse charity – Stop Domestic Abuse. They were also collecting food items that could be donated to Food Bank PO9, for those in need in the local area.

Staff from all three campuses donated to these two great causes, donating items such as toiletries, toys, bedding, gift sets, clothes, tins and food packets.
