HSDC staff members Joe Sillence, John Kennett and Mark Kellett grew their moustaches as part of #Movember this year to raise money and awareness for men’s mental health. So far, they have raised over £700 for the charity Movember.
Since its founding in 2003, Movember has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects around the world, helping to transform the way health services reach and support men. What started with 30 participants has grown to over 6 million. To take part in #Movember, a ‘Mo Bro’ (participant) must grow and groom a moustache for the month of November.
Mark explains why he took part:
“Men’s mental health has always been important to me but very much so in the current situation we all find ourselves in through the lockdowns etc, so I’m just hopeful this can raise awareness and help individuals that need it the most. Men’s mental health is very much overlooked – I feel raising awareness and discussions can only help going forward. We’ve had an overwhelming response to our fundraising pages and people have been very generous!”
Even though the ‘taches have come off, there is still an opportunity to donate: https://movember.com/t/el-moustacho-muchachos?mc=1.
