The HSDC Apprenticeship team have had a close relationship with the care sector for quite some time, placing students in Apprenticeships including Level 2 Adult Care Worker, Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker and Level 5 Leader in Adult Care.

For National Apprenticeship Week this year, the Principal’s Special Recognition Award has been given to the 24 care homes HSDC works with, in recognition of the hard work and dedication their Apprentices have shown throughout the pandemic, working incredibly hard to provide support while carrying on with their courses.

Congratulations go to staff and Apprentices at Colten Care, Shaw Healthcare, In Home Care and Home Instead for the fantastic work they do in the community, particularly in this pandemic year.

Award winner Colten Care is thrilled with their award. Suzanne Hill, Head of Learning and Development, said,

“This award is very much appreciated. Our Apprentices have continued to work very hard throughout this period to support our residents. We are thrilled to receive this award. “

HSDC Director of Business, Growth and Innovation Aaron Butson commented,

“2020 has proven to be the most difficult of years. We have been struck with the total dedication our Apprentices and their colleagues have served their communities. HSDC feels it is right to recognise this unbelievable dedication and commitment and to thank all the staff who work in care homes for their incredible service.”

HSDC Principal and CEO Mike Gaston added,

“It has been an absolute privilege to give these awards to the care homes that we work in partnership with. We all know what an incredibly challenging time care homes have had over the last 12 months, as staff do everything to look after many of our loved ones during the pandemic.

“In addition to that, these highly valued employers are working hard to ensure the training and support for Apprentices continues to ensure high levels of success. I believe all the staff involved, including the Apprentices, deserve every plaudit they receive and I thank them for their ongoing professionalism and commitment.”
