In the autumn HSDC Havant student Morgan Rees started her own business selling greetings cards, Floral Crafts by Morgan. Since then, her business has taken off and keeps her busy selling her cards online and via a local shop.
Morgan comes up with the card design herself, painting them at home before scanning and sending them to a company to print on luxury cards. She has a diverse range of products, from Valentine’s cards to pet portraits.
Currently in her first year, Morgan is studying A Level Fine Art, Media Studies and Business Studies.
“When I finish College, I would like to go to university to study graphics or architecture and I hope to spend more time focusing on my business so that I can expand and offer more products.
“Studying Fine Art has helped me to develop my skills and Business has helped me to learn and understand what advertising strategies I can use for my audience, as well as how to properly run it. It has given me a better understanding of profits and revenue.”
HSDC Havant Fine Art A Level Course Manager Mark Kellett commented,
“Morgan joined the Fine Art A Level in September with low confidence in her abilities as she didn’t have a GCSE in Art. Since then, she has worked very hard to develop her skills during our workshops and projects. It’s been fantastic to see her confidence grow and see her produce some excellent products to sell alongside her current art projects. Her level of commitment to both her cards and College work is very impressive and I wish her good luck with her business for the future.”
