Charity competition win for HSDC Alton students’ logo designs

Students who won the Young Volunteers logo competition

Six HSDC Alton College students showed off their creative skills and won a local charity’s logo competition to help encourage young people to volunteer.

Last term, Hampshire charity Community First ran a logo competition to design a logo for their new, National Lottery-funded project Young Volunteers

A group of students from the Level 1 Vocational Studies course at the Alton Campus were encouraged to design their own logos for the competition.

Young Volunteers has the charitable aim to engage young people aged 13 to 17 into volunteering with their local community in non-profit organisations and charities.

In creating a whole new section for young people on the Volunteer First website, they asked for young people to create a logo which will take centre stage in promoting their project and be featured on their website and all social media platforms.

Students Will, Matthew, Chloe, Emma, Matt and Marcus were delighted to hear that they were successful in their logo submission, winning the grand prize of £60 in Amazon vouchers.

Teacher Zoe Goros said:

“Within the Level 1 Vocational Studies qualification’s Business unit we were exploring ‘branding a product’ and it was excellent timing for the students on this unit!

“Ellie and Joy, two Young Volunteer Development Workers for Community First, came and presented to the class to launch the competition and meet with the students.

“We were delighted to hear from Ellie and Joy that our students had jointly won the competition and that all six logos submitted were going to be used across their media platforms. Our congratulations go to Will, Matthew, Chloe, Emma, Matt and Marcus!”
