A range of influential education professionals celebrated success at annual Teach Portsmouth Awards, which included an award sponsored by HSDC.
Hosted by radio presenter and broadcaster Lucy Ambache, the prestigious event saw prizes presented to a number of deserving local winners. The awards consisted of 11 categories which included the teaching and learning support award, the people’s choice award, and the innovation award, which was sponsored by HSDC.
Richard Barlow, Deputy Principal and Head of Campus at HSDC South Downs, said:
“HSDC is so proud to be an annual sponsor of the Teach Portsmouth Awards. It is always both humbling and inspiring to be involved in this celebration of so many fantastic people working in education in Portsmouth.
Everyone working in our early years settings, primary schools, secondary schools, and colleges knows the challenges that our children, pupils, and students face but we are united in going above and beyond to ensure their opportunities and achievements are truly excellent.”
The innovation award sponsored by HSDC consisted of a shortlist of three individuals or teams in school and saw Portsmouth Digital Champions (14 champions across Portsmouth schools) scoop the prize which really highlighted how they developed new ways to improve teaching and learning.
The group will also support the “Portsmouth: The Digital City” project whilst also completing an Apprenticeship over the coming months.
Richard added:
“As someone who has lived in the city and worked in its education system for 30 years, I feel a very personal connection to wanting to recognise and celebrate the amazing people who make a real difference every day.
Sponsoring the Innovation Award this year was a great opportunity for us to positively acknowledge people whose work pushes forward new ideas with real energy and passion, which is certainly exemplified by the worthy winners – the Portsmouth Digital Champions.”
