October 9, 2023

Freshers Fair

HSDC’s Freshers Fair was attended by a large number of eager students who were keen to find out more about the range of extracurricular clubs and societies on offer across all three campuses.

Students were invited to visit a range of stands consisting of both internal and external exhibitors in order to find out more about the extracurricular options and services available. This included stands from Mind, Horizon, Village Gym, Solent Sexual Health, Young ACAN,  Student Union, Esports, Be Aspirational, Be Adventurous plus many more.

Not only was this an excellent opportunity to further explore the variety of options available but this event also enabled students to discover new passions and hobbies to complement their time at college. HSDC aim to have activities or clubs available to suit each and every student which really does enable each individual to make the most of their time with us.

Ava Watts, who was heading up the Esports stand at Alton College said:

“Freshers Fair is a great opportunity to explore what people are hoping to see from Esports over the next year. We are looking forward to making Esports more of a community feel.”

Lynn Gilson, who was representing Musical Theatre at Alton College added:

“Freshers Fair is the perfect place to discuss upcoming musical theatre events at Alton College. The aim of the event is to find passionate people. They don’t have to be studying the subject as many may have not had the chance but I am looking for those who have a keen interest.”

South Downs Student Union added:

“We have had lots of interest from students which has been great.

We really want to ensure students make the best memories at HSDC and being a part of the Student Union is a great way to do so. We have many plans for the coming year, and hope to get many more students involved.”
