The City That Never Sleeps recently hosted a group of students from HSDC’s Havant and South Downs campuses. The annual multi-departmental trip to New York City was a great success, providing students with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience one of the most iconic cities in the world.
46 students from a diverse range of disciplines were able to see some of the fantastic things that NYC has to offer! The comprehensive tour of the Big Apple was led by Programme Leader for Arts & Humanities Jamie Harrison, who said:
“The New York trip is always a fantastic educational experience for our students, enabling them to explore the culture of the city and visit a variety of sights that are relevant to their studies. Each day offered something new for them to experience, ensuring that the itinerary was as full and diverse as possible!”
Particular highlights of the trip included seeing iconic landmarks such as the Brooklyn Bridge, Madison Square Garden and Times Square. The students were also able to visit SUMMIT One Vanderbilt and the Empire State Building’s observatory, granting them incredible views of the city from above.
The trip also included a guided boat tour of the city on a Circle Line Cruise, allowing the students to see potentially the most iconic landmark in the city – The Statue of Liberty. Other notable attractions on the trip included a visit to the United Nations, the NBC Studios, and the Friends Experience!
What made the trip all the more magical and memorable was the weather – it snowed in Central Park!
Trips like the one to New York are what make studying at HSDC such an incredibly rewarding experience. Not only did students enrich their education and gain a new perspective on their courses, but they also created lifelong memories and were able to explore one of the most fascinating cities in the world!
