A Night of Celebration for Alton Textiles

October 6, 2025

Alton Textiles

A group of former Textiles students at Alton College recently returned to the campus to

celebrate their fantastic work with family, friends and staff.

Students who had completed their A Levels in Art Textiles last summer were invited to return

to the College for a private viewing of their work in the Wessex Arts Department, showcasing

the fruits of their efforts with a glass of wine.

Bringing along parents, carers, friends and family, the exhibition was a wonderful opportunity

to highlight the hard work of the students. There was such a broad range of artwork on

display, including summer dresses, jackets, hats and shirts.

The students’ sketchbooks were also on display, allowing the viewers to get a glimpse into

how these fantastic pieces came to life.

Textiles lecturer Lizzie Henley was very proud of her students’ work:

“This group has worked so hard over the last two years, making this celebration even

more special. I am incredibly proud of their artwork, and wish them all the best for the

future!”

Nearly half of the Textiles group will be going on to study the Level 4 Art & Design

Foundation Diploma, a one-year pre-degree course that prepares students for entry into

Creative Arts Universities, Apprenticeships or other work in the creative industries.

This highlights the crucial role that a Creative A Level, such as Textiles, can play in setting

the foundation for a successful and meaningful career in the modern workplace.
