HSDC is excited to announce the success of its new Skills Bootcamps, funded and supported by Hampshire County Council. These are transformative training offers designed to equip the Hampshire workforce with essential, job-ready skills needed to thrive in the modern workplace.
These Skills Bootcamps are government-funded, short courses that last up to 16 weeks, and are targeted towards unemployed or self-employed adults aged 19 and over, although existing workers may wish to use these to upskill.
These flexible courses have been co-designed with employers, ensuring that their curriculum remains relevant for current regional market demands and can effectively address local priority sectors. By offering these Skills Bootcamps in the key areas of Early Years and Customer Service, HSDC is playing a crucial role in strengthening the labour market and helping employers to recruit new talent.
One of the most impactful features of these Skills Bootcamps is their direct support for unemployed individuals. These courses are completely free for unemployed or self-employed learners, and provide every participant who is out of work with a guaranteed job interview upon completion, ensuring a real pathway into employment.
The Skills Bootcamps provided a broad range of benefits to both employers and employees – learners completed these courses ready to step into roles with both practical competence and the confidence to succeed, whilst employers gained access to newly trained professionals, equipped with the latest skills relevant to their industry.
Learner feedback on these Skills Bootcamps at HSDC has been overwhelmingly positive, with one student saying:
“Knowledge is key when it comes to building confidence, and I am now far more knowledgeable and confident enough to hopefully secure a successful job in customer service. This Skills Bootcamp has also increased my interest in picking up a college course to further my education, as this was the push I needed to work in this sort of environment!”
HSDC works tirelessly to build confidence, capability and employability across a range of sectors, and these new Skills Bootcamps are a testament to the College’s commitment to strengthening the local community, economy and workforce.
