HSDC welcomed community leaders, parents and partners to Alton College on Tuesday 10 March for a constructive and forward-looking Advisory Forum dedicated to shaping the College’s future.

The Forum was held in the College’s new Space & Satellite Hub, a modern facility that reflects Alton’s growing reputation for innovation, and provided an invaluable platform for open dialogue, shared ambitions and renewed community commitment.
Penny Wycherley, Chair of Governors at HSDC, led the Forum and opened with a message of collaboration:
“Our mission is simple: we want Alton College not just to succeed, but to flourish. Bringing together this group of local leaders and partners is an essential part of that journey. We are united by one purpose – to ensure that Alton and its surrounding communities continue to have a College they can rely on, feel proud of, and see as a central pillar of education, opportunity and growth.”
Throughout the evening, attendees broke into four focused working groups, each exploring ideas to strengthen the College’s community links, expand partnerships and enrich the experience of current and future students. A recurring theme across all groups was Alton College’s irreplaceable role in the fabric of local life, not only as an education provider but as a catalyst for ambition and community cohesion.
The Forum also reaffirmed the strong position of HSDC and Alton. Following the financial challenges of the last academic year, Alton College has returned to a place of stability and renewed confidence. Robust financial management, clearly defined strategic priorities and ongoing investment in facilities and curriculum have placed the College on a solid footing from which to grow.
The College will now use this strong foundation to consolidate the ideas raised at the Forum, continuing to engage closely with partners to turn these insights into actionable developments. Alton College remains steadfast in its mission to serve, uplift and inspire the community it proudly stands at the centre of.
