HSDC recently welcomed Headteachers and Deputy Headteachers from across the local education sector for a prestigious dinner held at 74South, the College’s industry standard training restaurant at the South Downs Campus.

This event brought together senior leaders from schools including Cowplain, Crookhorn and Havant Academy amongst others, reflecting HSDC’s long-established role as a stable, trusted and collaborative anchor within the local education community.
The dinner was curated and planned by chefs from The Briny, the acclaimed Southsea-based restaurant, offering guests an exceptional dining experience rooted in seasonality and modern British cookery. These chefs then taught HSDC’s catering students how to prepare these dishes, ensuring that everything was perfect for the meal. This collaboration was particularly meaningful as one of the chefs, James Stefanaras, recently completed his Chef De Partie Apprenticeship with HSDC, highlighting the College’s sustained commitment to high-quality learning and long-term employer partnerships that deliver strong outcomes for all who study with us.

Guests enjoyed a delicious menu, including Tempura Whitstable oyster, poached chalkstream trout and beef cheek, as well as various vegetarian options that ensured an inclusive experience for all attendees.
Also present at this meal were representatives from HSDC, including Thomas Menage, recently elected SU President at HSDC Havant, alongside students from all three College campuses. Their attendance underlined the College’s continuous emphasis on student voice, leadership development and belonging.

Kurt Hintz, HSDC’s Interim Principal and CEO, spoke at the dinner, saying:
“The success of our young people depends on strong partnerships with our schools and local stakeholders, ensuring every learner has the right pathway to succeed. I would also like to thank our students for their fantastic work this evening—their professionalism and pride reflect our commitment to preparing learners for their future careers through first-class facilities and strong links with industry.”
The evening provided an opportunity to reaffirm the shared values across the local educational landscape, particularly around
progression, collaboration and consistency for young people navigating their options after school.
Events such as this dinner form a key part of HSDC’s long-term strategic approach and vision, combining investment in high-quality facilities with confidence in leadership and governance, all whilst maintaining a laser focus on learner experience and success. As HSDC looks to the future of education, the College remains committed to sustaining these strong partnerships, investing responsibly, and continuing to serve as a secure and ambitious pathway for learners across the region.
