A former HSDC student has soared into her dream career with British Airways after completing a fast-track Cabin Crew course at the College in just six months.

The Aviation Suite at South Downs was perfect to provide Tia with real world experience.
Tia Oliver, who studied at HSDC’s South Downs Campus from September 2025 to March 2026 on the Level 2 NCFE Cabin Crew course, has successfully began her aviation career, demonstrating how HSDC’s intensive fast-track programme prepares students for real-world success.
The fast-track course enabled Tia to achieve her qualification in half the usual time, equipping her with the skills, confidence and industry knowledge required to secure a highly sought-after role with British Airways on her first application.
Reflecting on her time at HSDC, Tia emphasised the importance of the personal growth she experienced:
“My favourite part of College was gaining confidence from what I learned. I love to talk to people, but I didn’t really have a lot of confidence in my knowledge at first. This course was crucial in building this up, enabling me to apply for my dream job, and getting accepted first time!”
Tia also credits her teachers as key to her success:
“They were fantastic, and so fun to talk to! The teachers at College really make you feel like you’re part of a team, and taught me exactly how to act to be an ideal cabin crew member. They also helped me to perfect my work and grades.”

Tia is now working for British Airways!
The fast-track cabin crew course at HSDC gives students a comprehensive introduction to the role’s responsibilities, covering both customer service excellence and critical safety procedures. This gives students like Tia a distinct advantage in the recruitment process, as she was able to answer important technical questions about safety checks and equipment whilst being interviewed.
In May, Tia began her training with British Airways at Heathrow Airport, where she is thriving! Her training so far has included emergency procedures, firefighting, decompression responses and security awareness, including handling suspicious situations and safeguarding passengers.
Tia has already achieved qualifications to work onboard short-haul aircraft, including the Airbus A319, A320 and A321, and is trained to deliver service in both economy and business class! She is currently progressing into long-haul training.
Speaking about her experience at British Airways so far, Tia said:
“I’ve loved my time here so far! I’ve completed so much training, and have made amazing friends and met so many different people. I’ve never had so much fun, besides my course at College!”
Tia’s journey shines a real spotlight on the transformative impact of courses at HSDC, and she encourages future students to pursue their ambitions with determination:
“Don’t let nerves or challenges put you off! Stay committed and the teachers will be there to help you achieve your goals.”
Everyone at HSDC is incredibly proud of Tia’s hard work, and wishes her all the best as she continues her journey with British Airways.
HSDC South Downs’ cabin crew course continues to prepare students for careers in the aviation industry with employer-aligned training, experienced tutors and a strong focus on employability skills.
