Celebrations were underway at HSDC South Downs recently, as the College’s Supported Internship students received their certificates marking the end of their course.
This celebration event, held in the College’s restaurant, 74 South, marked the end of a year of dedication, resilience, personal growth and development, with every learner excelling on their work placements.
The Supported Internship programme is designed to equip students with little to no formal qualifications with the skills, confidence and experience required to enter the world of work. This makes it an accessible and inclusive pathway for students who may otherwise face barriers, such as complex learning needs, to employment.
Lee Marshall, Course Lead for the Supported Internship, said:
“I am so proud of all of the students here today. You’ve all grown and changed so much since starting this course, and I have no doubt that you will all continue to thrive and succeed in your future careers.”
The students each had a personal citation read out for them, marking their individual achievements, before receiving an official graduation certificate and having their photo taken!
Many students are now progressing onto paid employment or higher level courses, reflecting the strength, not only of the course itself, but of their own personal ambitions and achievements.
