Former students Chloe and Katy recently returned to South Downs campus to reflect on their experience studying the Education and Early Years T Level and share where their qualification has taken them.
Both Chloe and Katy achieved excellent results in their T Levels, with Chloe receiving a Distinction* and Katy a Distinction. They are now progressing to university with aspirations of becoming primary school teachers. Chloe is heading to the University of Portsmouth and Katy to the University of Winchester, where they will both study Education.
One of their favourite things about the Education and Early Years T Level was the opportunity to put their learning into practice. Spending three days a week in placement alongside two days a week in college, they gained valuable experience working in both primary schools and nurseries alongside college study.
Reflecting on the practical element of the course, they said:
“Over 750 hours of work experience in a primary setting was really useful because we got to build our skills with children and also have those in class moments.”
Alongside their placements, Chloe and Katy emphasised the interactive nature of their lessons. For Chloe, being able to visualise and apply what she was learning was particularly valuable.
“I found the interactive activities really helpful because they allowed you to visualise what you were learning and put it into practice.”
Preparing for the next stage of their education, Chloe and Katy shared some advice for aspiring T Level students, saying:
“Come in with an open mind, Give things a go and don’t shy away from new opportunities.”
