HSDC College Group was pleased to attend the CLICK Jobs Fair at Alton Maltings, joining employers, training providers and support organisations from across the area to connect with local jobseekers and showcase new opportunities at Alton College.
There was plenty of interest in the HSDC College Group stand, particularly around the adult learning courses currently available at Havant and South Downs Colleges, which are set to expand to Alton College. Visitors explored a wide range of skill-development opportunities, including GCSEs, access to higher education courses, and distance learning options.
Opening the fair, East Hampshire MP Damian Hinds spoke about the importance of bringing together local people and employers:
“Today is all about opportunity; Opportunity for your business to grow and find the talent and critically an opportunity for those who need to get a job. The event is called CLICK for two reasons. It’s because there is a focus on technology but also because people click. It’s about making those connections”
Representing Alton College on the day was second year student Jamie, who is currently studying A Level Maths, Physics and Computer Science.
Jamie hopes to continue pursuing his interest in space technology after college, either through an apprenticeship or degree with Surrey Space Centre.
Speaking about his experience at Alton College, Jamie said:
“My favourite thing was getting to work hands on with electronics, as it’s not something you usually get to do”
Alongside showcasing its growing adult learning offer, HSDC College Group also promoted current vacancies and the wider opportunities available across the College group.
The Adult learning provision at Alton College will continue to expand over the coming months, with the full offer set to be rolled out by the beginning of the next academic year.
