SUPPORT

Alton College is deeply committed to supporting its students through a comprehensive range of services designed to foster academic success and personal well-being.

Each year we provide a variety of Gifted and Talented events for school pupils. These include inspiring talks from leading academics and former students of prestigious universities, giving Alton students insight into what it is really like studying at Oxbridge Universities.

We are also fortunate to work with the Alton College Foundation, a charity that works with staff to celebrate the success of students and to raise funds for College resources. The foundation hosts a celebratory evening each year to award grants to students in recognition of their excellence across both academic and vocational subjects. Since 2002, 440 such scholarships have been awarded, all of which have made a real difference to the education of Alton’s students and the enrichment of the local community.

STRONG INDUSTRY LINKS

At Alton College, we have established strong industry connections that significantly enhance our students’ educational experiences and career prospects. A notable example is our collaboration with the Surrey Space Centre, which has led to the development of a hands-on Space Technologies programme. Through this partnership, students gain practical skills aligned with the needs of the thriving space sector in Hampshire and Surrey, which boasts over 150 space companies.

Additionally, our commitment to industry engagement is reflected in its attainment of all eight Gatsby benchmarks for career guidance, ensuring students receive comprehensive support in exploring various career pathways. Throughout the year, we hold numerous career fairs, showcasing the careers that our students can work towards whilst studying with us.

FACILITIES

Alton College offers a diverse array of state-of-the-art facilities designed to support students across various disciplines. The Beacon Science Centre serves as a hub for scientific inquiry, and recently, the lower floor has been transformed into the Alton College Space & Satellite Hub, offering students industry-standard equipment and modern laboratories equipped for advanced experiments and research.

In the realm of digital education, the college has invested £1.25 million in the Gaming & Creative Digital Studios, providing students with access to 64 high-end gaming PCs and 48 media production workstations, fostering skills in Game Design and Film Production.
