In January, 29 Vocational Sport and A Level PE students travelled to Club la Santa to take part in a week packed full of sport and exercise ranging from surfing to paddle tennis. The students participated in team events each day that consisted of beach volleyball, basketball, swimming relay and athletics which brought out the competitive streak not only from the students but the staff as well.

All students agreed that it was one of the best weeks they had ever experienced.  Sport student Beth Caizley said

I would definitely recommend coming on this trip, it was genuinely the best week! I only knew about five people coming on this trip and I’ve left with friends for life. You meet so many new people and form so many new unexpected friendships! The range of sports available is amazing and it is the most inspiring place to go. I’ve completed events and achieved goals I never thought I would be capable of but with such good company and a boost in my confidence, I’ve shocked myself with what I’ve achieved.”

PE Course Manager Claire Kerley said:

“This residential gives our students the chance to experience a range of different activities, some mainstream but some more unusual activities that they would have never had the opportunity to experience up until now.

“It’s also really important to showcase different career opportunities; we want to inspire our students and show the wide variety of careers available in the sport and fitness industry.”
