October 19, 2021

Our teaching staff pride themselves on providing an engaging and innovative learning experience to help students get everything they need to achieve their aspirations.

Across all of the course types we offer at HSDC, we have inspirational teachers and lecturers with excellent industry connections and experience in a range of practical fields.

As part of Colleges Week’s ‘Get in’ theme, today we wanted to highlight a handful of the courses, staff and facilities which enable us to offer something for everyone across our three Hampshire campuses.

T Levels

With this autumn marking a year since T Levels began, we are delighted to be a provider of these exciting qualifications, having been among the first colleges in 2020 to offer the original three T Levels in Construction, Digital and Education & Childcare.

Seven T Level options were available for those joining HSDC in September 2021, and even more industries will be explored by students enrolling for September 2022, including Finance and Engineering & Manufacturing.

T Levels are two-year courses which follow GCSEs and are equivalent to three A Levels. They bring classroom learning and a substantial work placement together. If you choose to take a T Level, it means you can go straight on to skilled work, further training or study.

We have been working hard to update our facilities to reflect real-world workplaces as much as possible, and we were proud to recently unveil our Gaming & Creative Digital Studios at HSDC Alton as well as our Health & Nursing facilities at our South Downs Campus.

Digital learning and resources

Over the past 18 months, our staff and students have adapted incredibly well to the essential changes brought about by lockdowns, including shifting to even more online learning and a need to have access to all teaching resources from home.

Students are able to access a variety of online resources from home to suit their learning style, including bringing classes together through Google Classroom which allows you to collaborate and connect with lecturers and other students whenever you need to.

Qualification success

Students throw their graduation caps in the air

Later this week, we have a whole day dedicated to success stories of our past and present students. However, we think one of the best ways to shout about our fantastic teaching staff is to showcase a selection of recent qualification successes.

In August, Results Day saw HSDC students achieve an overall pass rate of 99%, with 67% of students securing A* to B or equivalent grades and 41% of our students achieving the highest A*/A or equivalent grades.

Later that month, we were proud to see 31 Higher Education students graduate from their courses, which were taught by HSDC in partnership with the University of Chichester.
